About

A Psychotherapist with Insight and Action

I am a psychotherapist specializing in individual adult and couples counseling, committed to guiding you toward greater self-awareness, healing, and growth. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic principles, allowing us to explore the depths of your inner world and uncover underlying patterns that influence your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. I believe in working with the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—because healing arises from understanding and nurturing all aspects of yourself.

With extensive training in meditation and Buddhist psychology, I sometimes incorporate mindfulness and heart practices to help cultivate presence, compassion, and clarity. I engage with each client with kindness and curiosity, creating a safe space for honest exploration. I value both insight and action, empowering (or as one client told me, emboldening) you to cultivate awareness and make meaningful changes in your life.

A Psychotherapist with Courage and Curiosity

My clients are individuals and couples who are committed to their own healing journey, seeking to deepen their understanding and break through barriers to living a life that feels authentic. As the poet ee cummings said, “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” Having a sense of carrying a burden you are ready to set down, or that there is something as yet unexpressed in you, or that there is a part of you that you want to get back: these are some of the reasons people seek therapy with me.

Specific problems my clients are dealing with include grief, depression, relationship issues, anxiety, ADHD, addiction, PTSD, social anxiety, and more. Sometimes people come in for support while crossing over rough seas such as the death of a loved one or another major life event. If you wish to embark on this path of self-discovery and transformation, I am here to support you every step of the way.

A Psychotherapist with Learning and Service

My professional background includes working in schools, hospitals (inpatient psychiatry and medical/surgical), community mental health, inpatient addiction recovery, hospice, bereavement, and yoga. I studied at the University of Washington (BA English/creative writing), Seattle University (Master in Teaching), Institute for Therapeutic Learning (hypnotherapy/NLP) and Bastyr University (Master in Counseling Psychology). I am a graduate of Northwest Psychoanalytic Society and Institute’s 2 year Fundamentals of Psychoanalysis program.

I have done further study and certifications with the British Emotionally Focused Therapy Centre, the PACT Institute, and the Bowen Institute. My psychoanalytic training has been with numerous institutes, including the Psychoanalytic Association of New York and the Western Branch Canadian Psychoanalytic Society. I have studied lucid dream work with Andrew Holocek and active dreaming with Robert Moss in his Dream Teacher Training, and I am an EMDRIA-certified EMDR practitioner. My yoga and meditation teachers are too many to mention, although I will say those who inform my therapy practice on a daily basis are Venerable Dhammadinna and Tenzin Jesse.
